Academy pupils pass food handling exam

editorial image

SECOND year pupils at Rothesay Academy were given their first head-start in the working world today (March 1) after passing their Elementary Food Handlers exam.

The test, sponsored by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), taught the pupils how to handle and store food, the importance of hygiene and how to deal with common food pests.

The students’ teacher, Mrs Davina Smith, invited Mags Breeze who works in the school’s kitchen to make the presentation to the pupils, after impressing on the youngsters just how important the food handling certificate is with regard to employment, either now or in the future.
