Lighting up Port Bannatyne

Port Bannatyne’s annual Christmas lights switch-on was a huge success on Friday evening, with the big man himself, Santa, even making an appearance.

Pupils from North Bute Primary School helped keep spirits high in the cold air with a selection of Christmas songs, each of which received a well-deserved, huge round of applause.

Adeleine Smith from Port Bannatyne was given the honours of turning on this year’s lights, and after a brief welcome from Councillor Robert Macintyre, the village was lit up in a stunning display of colour stretching along the shore.

There was a rumour that Santa was on his way, and given that his sleigh will require some maintenance before he makes his global journey on December 25, he opted for public transport and arrived via a West Coast Motors bus!
