A Bute community group is £500 better off this week thanks to a donation from the Clydesdale Bank’s employee volunteer programme.

The donation has been made to Light Up Bute thanks to Janette Macdonald, a customer service officer in the bank’s Rothesay branch who is also a member of Light Up Bute.

The money will be used to help the group take forward its plans to revamp a former playpark in the Ladeside area of Rothesay which is currently fenced off on safety grounds.

“I thought Light Up Bute’s plans for the playpark could be ideal for a donation from the programme,” Janette said. “It’s ggreat that the bank I work for is able and willing to contribute to the community.”

The bank’s employees can apply to the programme up to three times a year, but the staff member concerned has to be part of the project for which funding is being sought.
