Jim Sweeney (no 8, centre) will compete in his 37th Bute Highland Games 10km road race on August 24.

Rothesay runner Jim Sweeney will be raising money for Bute charity Calum’s Cabin when he takes part in the 10km road race at the forthcoming Bute Highland Games.

Jim, who warmed up for the road race by taking part in the Bute Fights Back 10K run on Saturday, will run in the Bute Games 10K for the 37th time when he lines up against athletes from all over Britain on Saturday, August 24.

This year Jim, a Jog Scotland trainer and regular health walk leader on the island, is attempting to raise enough money to accommodate a family for one week at Calum’s Cabin, the home on Bute built to give seriously ill children and their families the chance to enjoy a memorable holiday on the island.

Donations towards Jim’s goal of £550 can be made at the Calum’s Cabin shop in Tower Street, Rothesay or to Jim himself.
