Local resident and Calum’s Cabin fundraiser, Jenna Speirs (17), is due to collect a prestigious award later today - the Diana Champion Fundraiser Award - at Barclays Corporate in London.
Jenna is receiving the award for setting up and fundraising for Calum’s Cabin in memory of her twin brother Calum who died from cancer. The charity provides families with an ill child with a respite holiday at the purpose-built cabin on the island, and a second facility is due to open this weekend (March 17-18), allowing for twice as many families to benefit from a much-needed break.
Former rugby union international, Ben Cohen MBE will present Jenna with her award. Ben is now chairman of the Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation, set up to tackle bullying and homophobia in sport.
