Local charity Achievement Bute has been given the highest possible mark in a new report by the Care Inspectorate.

The Rothesay-based charity, which provides care and support for children with disabilities and their families, and organises a busy programme of popular clubs and events for the island’s young people, was inspected on November 29.

And the quality of care and support, the quality of staffing and the quality of management and leadership provided by the organisation were all judged ‘excellent’ - the highest grade inspectors can provide.

Manager Dorothy McDonald said: “Our last inspection was in 2010 when we had one ‘excellent’ and two ‘very good’ gradings, so I’m really chuffed that we were graded excellent in all three categories this time.”
