The largest flotilla ever assembled on the Clyde sailed from Greenock to Glasgow on Saturday as part of the city’s Commonwealth Games celebrations.

The Buteman was on board the lead vessel on the flotilla, Caledonian MacBrayne’s newest ferry MV Lochinvar, for the historic occasion as crowds lined both banks of the river to see the spectacle.

Some 250 craft of all shapes and sizes sailed from Greenock to Glasgow on the Commonwealth Flotilla on Saturday, July 26, 2014.

These pictures provide a flavour of the day - from the start of our own journey, on the first ferry of the day from Rothesay, to the gathering of the fleet off Greenock and the spectacular sight of hundreds of spectators at Bowling, Erskine, Renfrew, Clydebank and Braehead cheering on the historic event.
