IN PICTURES: Bute’s community fun run in Rothesay

The campaign to bring a kidney dialysis unit to Bute has been boosted by around £1,000 as a result of the Rothesay community sport hub’s first charity fun run on Sunday.

Some 100 people signed up, in advance and on the day, to take part in the fun event around the Meadows - and after being warmed up in typically irreverent fashion by Douglas ‘Big Dougie’ Lyle, the participants were sent on their way to cover distances of one, two or three miles at their own chosen pace.

Afterwards there was a chance for everyone involved to find out more about just a few of the sport, health and wellbeing opportunities available on Bute, including the Isle of Bute Sailing Club, the Bute Highland Games 10K and embryonic plans for a local boccia club.

Our slideshow of pictures from the event features just a few of those who took part - more coverage to come in the next issue of The Buteman, on sale from Thursday, March 17.
