Jewellery-making, costume-creating and ‘upcycling’ old furniture all featured in the latest school holiday activity programme run by local family charity Achievement Bute - under the banner of ‘FashionEaster’.

Day one featured former Rothesay Academy pupil Linda Johnston, a graduate of the Edinburgh School of Art, showing the young people taking part in the week how to make some fab jewellery and accessories, using and re-using some unlikely materials.

A family 'furniture upcycling' day ended Achievement Bute's 'FashionEaster' school holiday activity programme at Rothesay Joint Campus.

Day two, Dress Up Mash Up, was a chance to dip into the big dressing-up box and make new costumes out of old materials.

All the pictures in our slideshow above, though, were taken at the climax to the week - a free family day showing how to re-style and re-use old or unloved pieces of furniture, using simple techniques and recycled materials, with all the ‘up-cycled’ items sold to the highest bidders at the end of the day to raise funds for Achievement Bute.
