Local charity Achievement Bute gave some of the island’s young people the chance to run rings around their adult helpers on Wednesday at the latest in their series of monthly ‘Pavilion Playdays’.
Not that the adults were struggling to cope - far from it, in fact. But the theme for the ‘Hoopla’ event at Rothesay Pavilion was, as the name suggests, rings and hoops, and for three hours the children practised hula-hooping, hoop-and-cleek, created games based around hoops and circles and even enjoyed an introduction to the Powerhoop fitness technique courtesy of local instructor Joanne Craig.
The next in the charity’s series of ‘Pavilion Playdays’ takes place at the same venue on Saturday, March 15, when Slide Too Far, a quartet of trombone players from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, will lead a musical workshop from 1-4pm.
