The organisers of this Saturday’s Bute Highland Dance Festival have received a donation of £1,000 from local charity For Bute to help with the increased costs of running this year’s event.

The refurbishment of the festival’s usual home, Rothesay Pavilion, means the 2016 event will take place instead at Rothesay Joint Campus this Saturday, April 23.

Organiser Anne McIlroy said: “We are very grateful to For Bute for this much-needed financial support.”

Saturday’s event starts at 10.30am and all are welcome to come along and support dancers from Bute and throughout west and central Scotland and Argyll.

Other cheque recipients this week from For Bute - a charity set up in 2013 to support good causes based on the island - were Rothesay Horticultural Society, Bute Museum and a sail training trip for Rothesay Academy pupils this June.
