Two youngsters with family links to Bute have climbed their first Munro to raise cash for the hospital where a friend from Rothesay received a stem cell transplant earlier this year.

Sarah and Finlay MacKenzie, who now live in Livingston with their parents Shona and Scott, joined eight other climbers and a dog on the ascent of Schiehallion in August, raising almost £1,200 for the Schiehallion ward at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children, where their friend Jake Webster was a patient for nine months.

Jake underwent a stem cell transplant in March and is now in remission. Sarah and Finlay would like to thank all family and friends who very kindly sponsored them and wish Jake all the best, especially now that he has started pre-school!
