‘Full Macmillan cover’ set to return to Bute

Bute will have its full complement of Macmillan nurses from the end of September.
Bute will have its full complement of Macmillan nurses from the end of September.

Bute’s Macmillan nursing cover will soon return to its full staffing complement following the resignation of local nurse Morag Robertson earlier this summer.

Island resident Eileen Hillis has taken up the first of two vacant posts covering the Bute and Cowal area, while a second position will be filled at the end of this month.

Eileen, who previously worked at Ardgowan Hospice in Greenock, will spend most of her time working on Bute from a base at the former Victoria Annexe building in Rothesay.

Liz Higgins, NHS Highland’s clinical services manager for the island, said: “Eileen has worked on the island before and is a very, very welcome addition.”

Ms Higgins said a second Macmillan nurse - the team leader for the Bute and Cowal area - would start work later this month and would also have a remit on Bute.
