Bute Dental Care have been informed by NHS Highland they are eligible for a grant of up to £50,000 towards relocation.

As we recently reported, Bute Dental Care’s plans for expansion were reliant upon being able to secure funding from a special NHS grant which would allow the practice to register new NHS patients.

The grant is from the Scottish Dental Access Initiative capital scheme which is designed to help practitioners establish, expand or purchase existing NHS dental practices.

Cameron McLarty, the Principal Dentist at Bute Dental Care is delighted at the news.

He told The Buteman: “We are very grateful NHS Highland are giving us this opportunity, and we hope to now progress the move for the benefit of our patients.

“If we can relocate we would hope to take on new patients, starting with our waiting list and any patients specifically transferred from NHS Highland to us.

“We would like to thank all our patients, and the wider community, for supporting us as we have sought to obtain these grants. As soon as we have more news on any relocation we will let our patients know.”

In other news at Bute Dental Care, Mr Harry Fleming is leaving the team in December to assume additional responsibilities within the Public Dental Service (PDS) in Argyll.

Harry said: “ I am really sorry to be leaving after eight years.

“I have had the privilege of treating wonderful patients and working with a brilliant team. It’s very hard for me to move on but I feel now is the right time.

“I’d like to thank all of my patients for their kindness and generosity towards me. I am very grateful to you all.”

Mr Fleming leaves the practice in mid-December and it’s hoped his replacement will be in post by then. If a patient has any questions please phone the reception on (01700) 502041.

The practice will be in touch directly with those who are affected by the changes.
