Rothesay Library-based Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service needs you!

Could you give some time to support people affected by cancer? The successful weekly drop-in Macmillan Cancer and Information Service which runs on Tuesdays from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 3.30pm in Rothesay Library is looking to recruit some new volunteers.

The service is looking for male and female volunteers to help support people affected by cancer at weekly drop-in sessions in the library, and at community events. Full training and ongoing support are provided, as well as out of pocket expenses.

Christina West, Chief Officer of the Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “These drop in information sessions that Macmillan provide are of real benefit to the community and I would encourage anyone who has a few hours to spare to consider becoming a volunteer.”

The service in the library was recently recognised by Argyll and Bute Council and received the Gold level Excellence Award for Tackling Inequalities and Improving Health, and the overall Excellence Award for 2015, selected by Provost Len Scoullar.
