Tommy McNamara from North Ayrshire Cancer Care visited Bute on Friday to accept a donation of £1,250 from Bute Vintage Club.
Club secretary Robert McKirdy presented the cheque - representing half of the proceeds from the club’s annual charity rally and road run, which saw more than 50 beautifully-restored tractors and other vintage vehicles take to the island’s roads in July.
The money raised at the 2012 event was split equally between NACC and the operators of the paddle steamer Waverley, whose captain, Ian Clark, accepted the club’s donation when the famous ship called at Rothesay on her final cruise of 2012 on October 21.
This is the third occasion the Vintage Club’s members have chosen to support NACC, with donations of £750 in 2006 and £850 in 2009 bringing the total sum raised to a remarkable £2,850.
