Caroline Childs and Jenny Chaplin have shared their experience of care in the community with The Buteman.

A Bute resident who has been receiving care at home for the last eight months after suffering a stroke has spoken to The Buteman about her experiences.

Jenny Chaplin and her daughter Caroline Childs described the variety and quality of the services they have both used since Jenny was discharged from hospital in December 2013, and shared some advice they hope will be of help to others who might find themselves in a similar position in future.

“No family member could ever manage that all on their own,” Jenny said.

“I do think more support is needed for the family member. We all get battle weary. But I feel we’ve been very fortunate.

“The help is there. I’m very lucky that I’ve got the help at hand when I need it. People just don’t always know where to go to get it.”
