More than £5,500 has been raised for cancer charities as a result of the inaugural Bute Fights Back event in August, organisers have announced.

The event, which took place on Saturday, August 17, gave participants the choice of walking or running over 5km or 10km in aid of the cancer charity of their choice, with Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care, the Brianne Roberts Trust and Clic Sargent among the good causes nominated.

Almost one hundred people took part in the event, which ended in the grounds of Mount Stuart.
