BUTE Community Council wants to know whether there’d be support for ‘pay-and-display’ car-parking on the promenade, or whether it should be strictly pedestrian only.
The issue, which has been debated for some time now, was raised again at Wednesday’s meeting regarding the inability to enforce a strict ‘no-parking’ policy, or whether parking should be permitted through a ‘pay-and-display’ system.
It was suggested by Councillor Isobel Strong that the opinions of the community are taken into account, by way of a survey, to be carried out in the columns of The Buteman.
Councillor Len Scoullar suggested a public meeting be held, so as to allow for a full and frank discussion into the merits and pitfalls.
The next meeting of Bute Community Council is due to be held on October 19, in Port Bannatyne Village Hall at 7.30pm, where we hope to present the council with results of this survey, and a decision will then be taken as to whether or not a public meeting is required.
