More than 50 shepherds and their faithful companions converged on Eskechraggan farm near Rothesay this week for Bute’s annual sheepdog trials.

The winners of the open prize this year were Neil McEachern and Chloe - but only after a second tie-breaking run when they tied on 95 points with Rory Marshall and Tess.

The Dumfries Cup, the prize for the best entry in the confined class, went to Bobby Middleton and Jake, while the Glenaylmer Trophy for the best Bute shepherd was won by Sandy McKirdy and Jean.
