More than 50 friends and family attended the golden wedding celebrations of Bute couple Helen and Stan Ferguson in Rothesay on Saturday.

The couple, who met at the Majestic dance hall in Glasgow, were married in Mid Calder, west Lothian, on March 23, 1963, but have lived on Bute since taking over the Ardmaleish Boatbuilding Company in Port Bannatyne in the early 1970s.

As is traditional on Bute, the happy occasion was marked by the presentation of a bouquet of flowers on behalf of Argyll and Bute Council, the gift being presented on this occasion by Councillor Robert Macintyre.
