Rothesay's first 'community run' event - with walkers and joggers also welcome - has been rescheduled to Sunday, March 13.

Sponsor forms for the Isle of Bute Community Fun Run next month are now available from Rothesay Leisure Centre.

The event, which is being organised by the Rothesay community sport hub, takes place on Sunday, March 13, starting and finishing at Bute Shinty Club and following a mile-long loop around the Meadows.

The event - with all proceeds going to the Bute Kidney Patients Support Group’s campaign for a dialysis unit on the island - is open to all ages and fitness levels.

You can tackle the one-mile course once, twice or three times, and at whatever pace you’re comfortable with - joggers and walkers are just as welcome as runners!

Tea, coffee, juice and cakes will be available in the shinty clubhouse after the event - when you can also find lots of information on the wide range of sport and fitness activities taking place on Bute.

Anyone who would like to volunteer with marshalling, registration and other essential duties on the day of the event is asked to get in touch with James McMillan on james.mcmillan@argyll-bute.gov.uk or (01700) 501325.

Also, any club, organisation or group involved with sport, fitness, health or wellbeing on Bute who would like to publicise their activities - and maybe attract some new recruits - should contact James on the details given above.
