Fyne Homes has secured £225,000 to support employment and training in key skills areas for the Bute and South Kintyre communities.
Fyne Homes and their subsidiary company Fyne Futures have a proven track record of delivering community based projects across Bute, Cowal, Mid Argyll and Kintyre.
From 2003 to 2012, Fyne Homes have delivered a range of community regeneration projects delivering £1.25million of Wider Role projects and levering in a further £2 million in match funding to deliver a range of priorities to meet the wider needs of the community. This includes support for environmental landscape projects, youth skills and construction skills, development of affordable local produce activities, supporting young homeless tenants, supporting the community recycling sector and a host of employability related activities.
South Kintyre and Bute have significant unemployment issues with specific challenges for older aged unemployed people and people with limited skills and employment experience. Both areas have above average unemployment, and a large proportion of these people are long-term unemployed.
This project will fund employment training opportunities for 35 unemployed people to gain employment experience and skills working with a range of employers across the key sectors of Environment, Tourism and Care from November 2012 - March 2014. Lasting an average of 26 weeks these work placements will be waged and supported by tailored personal development support and on-the-job training.
A key aim is to assist particpants into long term employment. Host businesses and organisations will benefit from additional capacity building support to develop ideas for growth - another key aim is to support them to generate additional income generation and to provide additional long term employment opportunites.
