Port Bannatyne was a hive of activity on Sunday afternoon as the village’s annual gala day returned to Bute’s events calendar for the first time since 2007.

On a beautifully sunny day, the Port park was filled with families making the most of the weather, taking part in a whole host of different activities and enjoying a wide variety of entertainment.

Opening the day’s events, Councillor Robert Macintyre welcomed everyone and thanked them all for supporting the gala.

Music was provided by Beth Swan, Rosie O’Byrne, All Who Care (in their debut performance), and Academy Swing, as well as music throughout the afternoon from Bute FM.

MC for the day was DJ Chrissy Kinloch, who kept all visitors up to date with the various events, which included a dog show and fiercely contested tug-of-war.

Smallholders offered their wares throughout the afternoon, and there was much in the way of food and beverages to keep energy levels up.
