Rothesay’s community sport hub is set to continue for another four years thanks to a fresh injection of funding from governing body sportscotland.

Jillian Gibson, community sport hubs officer for Argyll and Bute, will remain in post until March 31, 2019 after confirmation of the longer-term financial support for the initiative.

The Rothesay ‘hub’ is to spend the next year co-ordinating a programme of school holiday activities for local children - with the activities led by the clubs themselves - as well as providing training opportunities for clubs and bringing specialist speakers to the island to provide more information to the sport hub’s member organisations.

In the shorter term the hub has also organised a new series of JogScotland sessions in Rothesay to help local residents get more active - these will take place on Tuesday lunchtimes from 1.10-1.50pm from May 12 to June 16, and on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm from May 13 to June 17. All sessions will begin outside the Moat Community Centre in Stuart Street and are free of charge - contact Jillian on jillian.gibson@argyll-bute.gov.uk to find out more.
