Local charity For Bute has presented donations worth more than £5,000 to five community groups on the island.

More than half of the £5,100 was given to the Isle of Bute branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland as a contribution towards its plans to carry out repair and renovation work to Rothesay’s war memorial.

In addition, £500 was presented to the local detachment of the Army Cadet Force, £500 to Achievement Bute, £500 to the junior section at Rothesay Golf Club and £600 to Bute Museum.

Marlene Hill and Jan McQueen from For Bute presented the donations at the charity’s thrift shop in Victoria Street.
