A date has been set for the demolition of the last remaining part of Inverkip Power Station.

Construction for the station started in 1970 and was decommissioned in 2006, and in the past year has been partially demolished - June 2010 saw the removal of one of the three large oil tanks, the northern section (Unit 3) of the main building was demolished by a controlled explosion at the end of October 2010, and by November all three large oil tanks had been removed from the site.

The chimney is expected to come down at 10pm on Sunday, July 28 in a controlled explosion.
