Rothesay Castle will be the venue for a day-long event next weekend marking the end of the Rothesay Townscape Heritage Initiative.
The family-friendly ‘final event’, in the style of a ‘Big Lunch’, takes place on Saturday, September 5, and entry to the castle will be free between 12 noon and 4pm on the day.
Members of the public are being invited to bring food with them and enjoy a picnic in the grounds, while Light Up Bute are bringing a bouncy castle to the event.
There will be live music too, as well as some stalls with food from Bute.
An exhibition about the project will be on show at the castle from September 4-11.
The THI has seen around £4.5 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), Historic Scotland, Argyll and Bute Council, the LEADER European funding scheme and private sources invested in the built environment in the centre of Rothesay - with a particular focus on the Guildford Square area - since the summer of 2012.
The council is due to submit a fresh bid to the HLF for ‘stage one’ funding for a new Townscape Heritage project for Rothesay by Monday, August 31.
