A former greenkeeper at Rothesay Golf Club is celebrating after picking up two prizes at the Institute of Groundsmanship’s annual awards.

Jim Dawson, the head groundsman at BT Murrayfield in Edinburgh, picked up the rugby union ‘team of the year’ prize and also won the Alex R. Millar award for the ‘groundsman’s groundsman’ of the year.

Jim, who left the greens and fairways of Canada Hill 23 years ago and had 17 years with Falkirk FC before moving on to the home of Scottish rugby, said: “Both awards mean a lot - and both are a reflection on the whole team, even the personal one, which is voted on by your peers.

“I’ve got three guys working with me - Alex Latto, Jason Taylford and Calum McMillan - and I’m absolutely delighted for them all.”
