The Scottish Episcopal Church’s Bishop of Argyll and the Isles visited St Paul’s Church in Rothesay on Sunday.

The In addition to the pastoral aspect of his visit, the Right Reverend Kevin Pearson also took the opportunity to thank the congregation at St Paul’s for their contributions to his Bishop’s Lent Appeal - this year in aid of Forward, a campaign and support charity set up to advance and safeguard the health and rights of African girls and women.

“Forward works in Africa and with immigrant communities in the UK to tackle attitudes towards women which can be rather restrictive,” Mr Pearson said.

“For the last two years we have sponsored the education of girls in African countries - in some parts of Africa children actually protest on the streets for the right to do homework.”
