Land company appeals for new directors

The Bute Community Land Company is appealing for members with skills in project management, finance and administration, and community liaison to consider becoming directors at the company’s forthcoming AGM.

BCLC’s annual meeting takes place at Rothesay Joint Campus on Wednesday, June 6 at 7pm at Rothesay Joint Campus.

One of the company’s elected directors, Sam Tweedlie, is standing down at the meeting due to future study commitments.

In his invitation to BCLC members to attend the AGM, company chairman John McGhee said: “The present board would in particular be interested in nominations from those with skills in project management, finance and administration or community liaison but I would encourage anyone with the time commitment and interest to consider putting their names forward.”

The AGM will also see the company’s junior members invited to select one of their number to act as a junior representative, entitled to attend all BCLC board meetings (but not to vote) in order to “put forward the views and interests of young people in the community”.

Mr McGhee’s invitation also points members towards BCLC’s annual accounts, for which approval will be sought at the AGM, on the company’s website; the accounts were not available on the site when the AGM invitation was issued, but were published late on Friday afternoon.
