Rothesay woman Caroline Shaw is approaching a successful end to her charity challenge to climb all of Scotland’s Munros in aid of the MS Society Scotland.

Back in 2011 Caroline set herself the challenge of bagging all 283 Munros - mountains in Scotland over 3,000 feet - by her 50th birthday on April 1, 2014.

She scaled 90 in that first year and 98 in 2012, and is now just five short of her goal.

Caroline told The Buteman: “After a very late start to the season, i.e. 25th May was my first Munro this year due to the amount of snow still on the hills, I’ve managed to climb 86 Munros and am now down to just five to go.

“All going well this weekend when I should ‘bag’ another four Munros at Strathfarrar, and I hope to complete my challenge on 26th October this year. My last munro will be Ben Lomond.

“It’s been an exhausting summer for me, but I’m really pleased I’ve managed to ‘bag’ so many in such a short time.”

Caroline set herself a fund-raising goal of £5,000 for MS Scotland, and has so far raised almost £2,200 via her JustGiving web page. To donate safely and securely, just click here - and watch out for news of a successful conclusion!
