Island charity Achievement Bute has been swapping sun for shade at their annual Dens Week in the grounds of Mount Stuart.

Always a popular part of the organisation’s summer holiday activity programme, this year’s Dens Week saw local and visiting children create four atmospheric woodland dens entirely out of natural materials in a woody glade a short distance from Mount Stuart house itself.

On Friday afternoon the dens’ creators showed off their handiwork to their families, and to The Buteman - and their pride in their achievements was clear for everyone to see.

After a guided tour of the dens, there was a chance for the youngsters involved to burn off any remaining energy with some competitive-but-chaotic races nearby, before gearing up for the next instalment in the charity’s busy summer programme.
