The project manager behind Bute Community Power’s wind development plans at Auchintirrie is leaving the organisation to take on a new role with the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

Boyd Alexander, who took up the post with BCP in October 2013, was one of the driving forces behind the Auchintirrie Wind Turbine Development - BCP’s first project - on Bute.

Reeni Kennedy-Boyle, society secretary, said: “We are delighted that Boyd has taken the project from inception to planning application stage. Following this major achievement, and while waiting for the outcome of the planning application, Boyd has taken advantage of an offer to join another challenging project.

“Although we are sad to lose him, we wish him well in his new position.”

The Auchintirrie planning application has been lodged for consideration, and a decision is expected in August or September.

Should the application be approved, BCP expect to launch a community share issue to in the New Year, with the intention of generating power by the end of 2016.
