Empire medal for Elizabeth in Rothesay ceremony

Rothesay resident Elizabeth Speirs was presented with the British Empire Medal in a ceremony at the town’s Trinity Church on Sunday.

Elizabeth was included in the Queen’s Birthday honours list earlier this year in recognition of more than 50 years of voluntary service on Bute to numerous community groups and organisations including the Red Cross, Trinity Church, the Girls’ Brigade and Boys’ Brigade and the Erskine charity for former service personnel.

The medal was presented by the Queen’s representative in Argyll and Bute, Lord Lieutenant Patrick Stewart, and local deputy lieutenant Lyn Bulloch, after Sunday worship at Trinity.
