A Kilchattan Bay resident and Bute community councillor will set out on a sponsored walk later this month to raise money for the Scottish Cot Death Trust.

Ellen Cromack will walk from Kilchattan Bay to Rothesay and back on Friday, February 26 - the seventh anniversary of the death of her granddaughter from the condition, which is now given the medical term ‘sudden unexplained death in infancy’.

Little Emma was just five months old when she died in her sleep in early 2009.

“I keep extraordinarily busy, and I do a lot of walking,” Ellen told us, “but the effect of something like that just eats away at you inside, and it would give me great satisfaction to do this walk and to be able to show that we don’t forget.”

* Sponsor forms for Ellen’s walk have yet to be distributed, but we’ll publish details of where you can add your support to her efforts as soon as we get the information.
