Apple Tree Nursery in Rothesay has received its third Eco Flag from the Eco-Schools Scotland initiative.

The award was confirmed after Paula Love from Eco-Schools Scotland visited the nursery to assess its continuing eco-friendly activities - and confirmed the award of a third flag because of its links with Mount Stuart Trust and Towards Zero Carbon Bute.

Manager Lesley-Anne Lee said: “We were also commended on our integration of the Eco Schools Programme into the curriculum via our Forest Schools work, the Zoolab visit and our One Plant Picnic.

“Our awareness-raising of global and local issues such as water shortages, dog fouling and community litter picks were also commended.

“Paula said our children were truly caring, mini global citizens. Well done the children and everyone who helped in any way for us to retain our Eco flag status.”
