Rothesay Academy’s prizegiving ceremony closed the 2014-15 academic year at the school on Friday afternoon.

Prizes in music, history, art, sport, leadership and citizenship, along with certificates of recognition and special recognition, were presented by Mrs Fiona Shaw on her last day before retiring from the school’s pupil support department.

The school’s inter-house sports awards and house championship trophy were also announced at Friday’s ceremony, with the latter prize going to Scalpsie house in its last year of existence - from August onwards, the Academy’s present three houses will be combined into two, Ettrick and Kames.

Next year’s school and house captains were also introduced - the school captains for 2015-16 will be Douglas Zavaroni and Jamie Murray, and the house captains Maggie Catlin, David Maxwell and Mark McLachlan for Ettrick and John Murray, Andy McDonald and Jenna Reid for Kames.

The school’s top academic prizes, awarded for outstanding achievement in the annual Higher examinations, will be awarded in a separate cermony in August, once the SQA exam results are known.
