A Bute primary school pupil has won a UK-wide competition to design a school satchel bag for a renowned French fashion house.

Seven-year-old Lauren Holly Miller, a pupil at North Bute Primary in Port Bannatyne, was one of only seven winners from across Europe in the competition, run by Vertbaudet.

Lauren’s winning UK design will feature in Vertbaudet’s spring collection - and her prize for winning includes a trip to Paris with her family to attend a prize-giving ceremony, her personal designed bag, £150 of Vertbaudet clothes vouchers, and of course the privilege of sharing her design with Vertbaudet customers when launched in their spring 2013 catalogue.

The ceremony will be held in the Jardin D`Acclimation children’s park in Paris on Saturday, September 15.

Her ecstatic mother, Michele Miller, said: “We are so proud and absolutely delighted for Lauren as it started out as a project for a rainy day during the school holidays, which you hope you might win but realistically know the challenges.

“We were overwhelmed when they telephoned to tell us of the news. Lauren has an eye for fashion and loves to draw, design and create so this is a fantastic reward for her.”

After collecting her bag at Saturday’s ceremony, Lauren will be taken on a VIP trip up the Eiffel Tower. Watch this space for a report of the event!
