A former Bute playgroup manager says she had trouble summing up her feelings after being named as Scotland’s nursery manager of the year.

Isabel Dunn, who lived and worked on the island between 1989 and 2004, latterly as play leader and then manager at Rothesay Playgroup, was presented with the accolade at the Scottish Nursery Management Today award ceremony in Glasgow last week.

She received the award in recognition of her work with the Busy Bees nursery in East Kilbride and Edinburgh.

“I was overwhelmed just to be nominated, and shell-shocked to be chosen as a finalist,” Isabel said.

“But to win this amazing award, I can’t even put this feeling into words.

“To have a job where you are looking after someone else’s children and their most prized possession is such a vital role and I treat each and every child as if I were looking after my own grandchildren. I just love my job and this award means the world to me.”
