Britain’s next general election may be a year and a half away, but Bute has found itself in the grip of election fever this week as pre-school children at Apple Tree Nursery in Rothesay campaign for votes in the election to the nursery’s pupil council.

Candidates Charlie McNeill, Lynsey Martin, Keavy Kermath, Kalisha Simmons, Mya Zavaroni and Mia Melvin are already canvassing and are hoping to have lots of support on polling day.

The candidate with the most votes will chair the council, with all other candidates having a responsible position on the committee.

Look out for their posters dotted around the town - and come along to the nursery on Tuesday, September 10 between 11am and 2pm to cast your vote!
