An ambitious bid to raise £10,000 for a new adventure playground at St Andrew’s Primary School in Rothesay kicked off with a fun family ceilidh on Saturday night.

A total of 140 tickets were sold for the event, while 32 local businesses donated raffle prizes to help with the cause and John Morrison from the Bute Ceilidh Band came along to lead the dancers through the steps.

Head teacher Sandra Maitland said: “The adventure playground within the school grounds will help children with their balance and coordination as well as being a chance for them to have fun outdoors. We’re hoping to raise the money we need by this time next year.”
