Pupils at Rothesay Primary are to benefit from the use of 15 brand new iPad Minis thanks to a donation to the school from the Bute Family Charitable Trust.
Sam Embury from the Trust visited the school to present a cheque for £3,730.50 to Kirsteen MacDonald, the school’s head of learning and teaching, who announced news of the donation at an assembly on Monday morning.
Each class will see regular use of the new equipment - an example of technology which is being seen by more and more schools across the country as an essential teaching aid, especially in light of the new Curriculum for Excellence.
“My grandfather, John Bute, set up the charity in 1981 to provide funds for charitable purposes focusing on the Isle of Bute and west coast of Scotland and I recently became involved with the charity,” Sam said.
“Historically, donations from the trust have generally remained anonymous, but this is no longer the case, so we can actively promote the causes and charities themselves.”
