Argyll and Bute’s MP and MSP have offered their congratulations to young people across the region receiving exam results today (Tuesday, August 4).
MP Brendan O’Hara and MSP Michael Russell said, in a joint statement: “Congratulations to all our young people across Argyll and Bute for achieving a new high in this year’s exams. Local attainment has gone up again this year, an indication that no matter how hard the task, Argyll & Bute’s students are keen to learn and keen to succeed.
“We are very proud of the achievements of those who will build the future of Scotland. But even if you didn’t achieve the grades you wanted then don’t despair - you still have more chances ahead and you can turn this disappointment into an opportunity.
“Make sure you contact the SDS help line (on 0808 100 8000) at the earliest chance you get to discuss what might be possible for you.
“Older people like us can take a lesson from these exams too. Young people have every bit as much grit and determination as their predecessors and deserve support and encouragement at every turn.
“We are, officially, the best educated country in Europe and it’s likely we will continue that accolade with our young people learning more than ever and passing more exams. That is great news.”
