Duncan talks to Port WRI on care in community

The ladies of Port Bannatyne WRI heard from Duncan McKellar of the Care and Maintenance team at Argyll and Bute, who offers assistance to elderly people living at home, to enable them to live as independently as possible.
The ladies of Port Bannatyne WRI heard from Duncan McKellar of the Care and Maintenance team at Argyll and Bute, who offers assistance to elderly people living at home, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

President Aileen Fitzgerald, welcomed Mr Duncan McKellar of the Care and Maintenance team of Argyll and Bute Council to the April meeting of Port Bannatyne WRI.

Duncan described all the different help he could give to support older people live safely in their homes. He also brought along the equipment for the Telecare Package which was available to allow people to live as independently as possible in their own homes. This alarm system seemed very impressive and a lively question session followed.

Jean McMillan gave the vote of thanks and also a personal recommendation of all the assistance Duncan is able to give.

The results of the competitions are as follows:

Flowering/green plant - 1 Mairi Scott, 2 Muriel Mackay, 3 Els Kamst.

Fruit Loaf - 1 Jessmay Morton, 2 Jean McMillan, 3 Mairi Scott.
