A demonstration of vital life-saving techniques - including the correct use of a defibrillator - was held on Bute this week following a successful campaign to raise funds for two such machines in Kingarth and Kilchattan Bay.

Forty-five people attended the event at Kingarth Hotel, which was led by community defibrillation officer Adrian Sweeney and community resuscitation development officer Christine Lyle.

The demonstration was held after £5,143 was raised to purchase and maintain two defibrillators, which are both now ‘in situ’ - one at the old quay in the centre of Kilchattan Bay, and the other on an outside wall at Kingarth Hotel itself.

“The more people who are trained to save a life, the better,” Mr Sweeney told The Buteman.

“Having a defibrillator in your community could be the vital link in the chain of saving someone’s life.”
