A Rothesay man was disqualified from driving for four months for driving without insurance at Rothesay Sheriff Court on Monday.
Sean Devlin (23), address given as 21 Westlands Road, appeared from custody having submitted to an arrest warrant the evening before his court appearance, which had been granted at Rothesay Sheriff Court on June 24 after he failed to appear.
Devlin’s agent, Mr Jim Hannay, told the court that the accused had been off the island at an event the weekend before his court date, but had lost his wallet, leaving him with no cash or means to return to Bute in time.
Speaking of the events which had brought charges against Devlin, Depute Fiscal Kevin Docherty told the court that the accused had been stopped in his vehicle in Bridgend Street on December 29 at 2.50pm following a minor traffic matter. He was told to produce his insurance documents to officers, but failed to do so within the alloted time, and following investigations it was revealed his insurance had lapsed on December 11.
