The driver of a West Coast Motors service bus was the victim of an assault while his vehicle was stopped in Port Bannatyne on Monday evening.

A 61-year-old man has been charged with assault and breach of the peace as a result of the incident, which happened at around 8.30pm and in which the bus driver was punched on the side of the body.

The man was released from custody on an undertaking to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court at a later date.

The incident was filmed by a member of the public, who passed phone footage to the police the following day.
