Two of the island’s sports clubs have received a funding boost this week thanks to the Bute Drug and Alcohol Forum.

Bute Youth Football Coaching and Bute Rugby Club both made funding applications to the forum and received cheques from its chair, local police inspector Gordon Anderson, and treasurer Councillor Len Scoullar.

Inspector Anderson said: “The BDAF group helps communities feel engaged and empowered to make healthier choices regarding alcohol and drugs.

“Both successful funding bids help to promote healthier lifestyles for members of the public on Bute.

“Football and rugby are excellent sports which help to keep people away from the problems encountered through use of alcohol and drugs, and I wish both clubs every success for the future.”
