Drink-driver receives four-year ban

A MAN who got behind the wheel while almost three times over the limit was banned for four years and fined £800 at Rothesay Sheriff Court on Monday.

The court was told that James Ewing, (58), address given as 1 Bellway, Bedfordshire, had been in Rothesay on October 21 with friends and had been drinking. He was witnessed that evening by police getting out of his car in the Co-operative car-park in Bridge Street, and it became apparent to officers he was under the influence of alcohol.

Ewing was conveyed to Rothesay police office where he was breathalysed, the result of which revealed 101mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - almost three times the legal limit.

Sheriff Ruth Anderson disqualified Ewing from driving for a period of four years, and imposed a fine of £800.
